On December 20, 2007, the General Assembly of the United Nations has declared the year 2009 to be the "International Year of Astronomy (IYA09).

There will be various events and projects covering all apsects of astronomy in Germany in 2009. These pages serve as a central forum for planning the activities. The year will feature four key topics of dealing with astronomy. Please do not wait to contact one of the coordinators, if you have plans or ideas for the IYA.
